‘DIGITAL FREEDOM FIGHTERS' |
Radio Interviews
Mission
F-Secure, the award winning anti-virus, online security and content cloud solution specialists, wanted to position themselves as the voice of authority for the internet security industry by capitalising on the media interest surrounding the Snowden leaks and the growing concern surrounding online privacy. As the one year anniversary of the Snowden leaks, in which Edward Snowden leaked classified documents revealing the extent to which government surveillance is taking place, approached in May of 2014, F-Secure commissioned research looking into how secure Brits feel their personal data is online and via mobile technology. The results revealed that a shocking 80% of people do not believe that their data is secure. To discuss the issue further, Tom Gaffney, a Security Advisor at F-Secure and Mike Harris, the campaign director of ‘Don’t Spy On Us’, a campaign calling for reform of legal framework to stop intelligence agencies from invading digital privacy, participated in a day of radio interviews. Tom and Mike were able to talk about their main concern for online policy and who has access to certain data. The campaign was very successful, with coverage highlights including LBC News, BBC Hereford & Worcester and Big City Radio. Campaign in Numbers F-Secure secured a reach of 2.20 million listeners with 4 hour 9 mins worth of coverage. F-Secure’s campaign secured a total of 77 items of coverage up and down the UK. |
